Without the knowledge of the owner or the name of the design team responsible for the interior we take a look at the Black Residence and break down some thoughts and observations about the lifestyle welcomed in this Toronto home.
Open and airy, this home is functional and livable only in the way that small space knows. Take a minute to entertain the visual ques from the bold coloured room dividers and you’ll notice that they serve a unique purpose. In addition to storage, the red dividers anchor rooms of specific function (bathroom + kitchen) while the purple divider appears to have the ability to pivot and change the space, providing entertainment, and degrees of privacy while altering the flow within the home.
The furniture in the living room includes a sectional sofa, a couple of Eames Walnut stools, an Eero Saarinen designed Womb Chair and what looks to be a Tolomeo Mega floor lamp. While in the kitchen we find an interesting fixture above the dining table that employs sheets of paper (to do lists?) to diffuse the light.
Other notable points include the selective placement of art throughout the space and the plant life found crawling from the walls behind the living room sofa.
